The vision of the Heritage and Libraries Journal and it is purpose:
The Heritage and Libraries Journal is launched from the heart of the capital, Damascus, adopting its symbolic and procedural headquarters as a high-level scientific platform, through which it aims at providing solid scientific contributions that advance research practices in the fields of knowledge related to heritage and library science. The journal places at the core of its interests the enhancement of dialogue between authenticity and modernity, and its vision is inspired by the national and scientific mission undertaken by the National Library in Damascus.
The journal seeks to be an intellectual and developmental extension of the library's mission. Its content is not limited to studying the National Library's private collections, but it also opens its doors wide to original and innovative research from around the world, which falls within the scope of its specializations announced on the journal's website, welcoming every solid scientific study.
With this comprehensive and integrated understanding, the journal aims to create a vital knowledge dialogue that connects the treasures of the past with the issues of the present and memory-preserving institutions (such as libraries) and knowledge-producing minds (such as researchers) in an effort to enrich the Arab intellectual scene, as it explores the depth of our authentic heritage to launch solid knowledge dialogues, and works to develop library services with a innovative vision, and elevates the system of heritage and library thought towards innovative horizons.
Free Access Policy at the Heritage and Libraries Journal
The Heritage and Libraries Journal committed to the principle of free access to knowledge, publishing authentic research and making all its contents available to readers through its website in full and free of charge, without any financial obstacles.
The journal receives solid scientific contributions in Arabic and English. The journal requires that all submitted materials are characterized by sound scientific methodology and contribute a real addition to knowledge to its basic specializations. It welcomes contributions from researchers from:
· Syrian, Arab, and international universities and academic and research institutions.
· Specialized researchers from various parts of the world.
Through this policy, the journal aims to spread interest and build a strong bridge between original intellectual production and the interested public, servicing scientific research and the development of human knowledge.
Intellectual Property Rights and Licensing.
All publications are licensed under CC BY 4.0 license, allowing them to be reused, shared and adapted provided that the original source is appropriately referenced and the work is attributed to its authors, thus:
Authors retain the literary rights to their submitted works, and grant "Heritage and Libraries Journal" the first copyright when the material is accepted for publication, while transferring the exploitation and availability rights to the journal.
The journal allows users to share the work (copy, distribute, and exchange it) and build derivative works from it, on the condition of: solid scientific attribution, by clearly indicating the name of the author(s), and mentioning the "Heritage and Libraries Journal" as the original source of publication.
· Authors have the right to include a copy of their published article in the archives of their academic institution, or on their personal or professional websites, with the mandatory full indication of the original publication in the "Heritage and Libraries Journal" including the volume number, issue numbers, and the official article link.
· Authors have the right to reuse parts of their work or its data in books, lectures, or subsequent research without the need for additional permission.
